Have you been finding all the ways that WOVI Lights Your Fire this year? Well now it’s time to ignite the fires of possibility. Yes, it’s time to mark your calendar for an inspiring day of speakers and panel discussions, and the joy of mixing and mingling with the most energized and energizing women around — WOVI women.

This year’s Conference will ignite the fires of possibility for personal growth, professional growth and compassionate growth. Speaking of the Silent Auction, did you know that these are important fundraisers for WOVI, Inc? So if you love WOVI (and we know you do), consider donating one or more items to the Silent Auction. To donate or get more information, email our Silent Auction Chair, Cynthia Lucas.

Opening Keynote Speaker: Judge Amber Givens-Davis

Walking in Your Purpose Whether the Road is Paved or Not

Is your life’s roadmap constantly under construction? Do you find yourself asking “what is my purpose in a world that doesn’t feel like it’s designed to let me win?”

Judge Amber Givens-Davis will share her unbelievable journey to the bench and how she found her purpose in the shadows of family tragedy.  She’ll share how she transformed her roadblocks into hurdles and how she has managed to thread her purpose through both her personal and professional achievements, all while staying true to herself…  and how you can too!

You will leave this keynote inspired to shine in spite of your adversities and will be better equipped to identify your purpose so that you too can walk the path you’re destined to journey!

Judge Amber Givens-Davis is a dedicated public servant. She currently presides over the 282nd Judicial District Court in Dallas County, Texas. Before taking office on January 1, 2015, Judge Givens-Davis served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York and Texas for eight years.  She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Tuskegee University and earned a Juris Doctor Degree from the Syracuse University College of Law.

Judge Givens-Davis believes that everyone is entitled to a just and fair system; which is evidenced by the two programs she has implemented since taking the bench.  Both the Word of Mouth series and Empowerment Program have been featured on KDFW Fox4.  The Word of Mouth series gives the public access to the inner workings of the criminal justice system and demystifies the system.  The Empowerment Program is designed to equip probationers with the necessary support and life skills to successfully complete probation.

Judge Givens-Davis’ public service extends beyond the courtroom as she serves on the Advisory Board of the Oak Cliff Boys and Girls Club, the Dallas County Juvenile Board, and the Advisory Board of the Dallas Women Lawyers Association amongst other organizations.  In 2015, she was elected as a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow.  Each year the top 1/3 of 1% of Texas attorneys are invited to become Fellows.  This is the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member of the State Bar of Texas.

Judge Givens-Davis is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. [Alpha Xi Omega Chapter].  She is married to Attorney Corwyn M. Davis and they are members of Concord Church.
