North Texas Women Leaders in the Arts: Women Leaders Uniting Culture and Commerce
with Katherine Wagner
|
For the greater part of Western Civilization, women were strongly discouraged from leadership roles in the arts, either as artists or as patrons. Many women defied those roles and were recognized for both their talent and their will. Many include notable women from North Texas.
Katherine Wagner believes that the best places to live have a vigorous economy that provides meaningful work and a vibrant culture to its citizens. Come and learn what roles women play today in the arts of our own region.
As CEO, Ms. Wagner leads the North Texas Business Council for the Arts staff, expanding on signature programs such as Leadership Arts, The Obelisk Awards, The North Texas Arts Alliance, ArtWorks and the often-resourced Economic Impact Study of Nonprofit Arts and Cultural Organizations in North Texas.
Prior to joining the North Texas Business Council for the Arts, Ms. Wagner served as Executive Director of Dallas Visual Art Center for over a decade, working with staff and board to increase membership by over 300% while building on established programs, initiating new ones such as the annual Legend Awards, and working with The Meadows Foundation, Inc. in a move to a newly-designed state-of-the-art facility in the Wilson Historic District. She brings deep ties to the arts in Dallas through her work with the City of Dallas, Office of Cultural Affairs, Public Art Committee, the Dallas Museum of Art and numerous other organizations.
